Awareness Programme on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Conducted by KVK Anjaw in collaboration with CSIR NEIST Jorhat

A one day Awareness training programme on “Cultivation and processing of Aromatic plants was organised by KVK Anjaw in collaboration with CSIR NEIST Jorhat at KVK office at Khupa on 13th January 2019. Altogether 67 farmers, farm women and rural youth attended the training programme. Dr. Manish Kanwat, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Anjaw in his welcome address appreciated to all the participants for their cooperation and interest in other agricultural activities beside large cardamom cultivation. He also encouraged to all the farmers to adopt cultivation of aromatic plants as a means of earning extra income. Dr Mohan Lal, Scientist CSIR NEIST Jorhat gave a detailed overview information about the importance of medicinal and aromatic plants. Later, he spoke on the critical aspects of cultivation of aromatic plants like patchouli, Citronella grass. Dr. Senthil Kumaran, Senior Field Officer, Spice Board also spoke about the different scheme and cultivation of large cardamom. Towards the end of the programme farmers scientist interaction was held to discuss the various problems faced by the farmers of Anjaw district.
